Novel Coronavirus Positives

I’m not a “glass half-full” kinda girl but definitely not a “glass half-empty” either.

I’m a, “I have a glass, and can fill it with whatever I have” person.

As a small business owner, I’ve lost 100% of my income for the months of April and May. As a very frequently road warrior, I’ve been grounded for the foreseeable future.

This is an incredibly challenging time, globally.

BUT…

I am financially responsible.  I live below my means, regularly.  I’m pretty frugal (my sister calls it something else and that’s okay too).  My car is a 2005:  I don’t owe anything on it.  I have some money in the bank.  I’m not bragging about either.  There was a time when I had to buy used cars that would break down, routinely, just because I could only afford monthly payments of $100.  I remember the very first time I had $20 left in my bank account at the end of the month.  That’s not where I am today and I’m thankful for that.

My business will return when we get back to some (new) kinds of normal.  In the meantime, I now have time to research, and write.  I’m working on my virtual class.  While I’ve been talking about it for years, now it’s actually happening.  I finally have time to work on it and I’m thankful for that.

I miss traveling.  I am thankful I’m not getting up at 3 am every Sunday or Monday, and driving to the airport.  I’m grateful I’m not enduring 12 – 14 hour workdays right now.

I had planned to be in Las Vegas this weekend with friends.  I was supposed to be on the platform trying to qualify for USPA World’s. I can’t control the fact that neither of these is happening.

I can continue to train.  I am.  My husband set me up with a basement gym (a Mother’s Day gift) years ago.  I’m thankful for that.

I’ve pushed the meet to next weekend since I’ll be the only one competing but I AM doing it.  I won’t have the energy of the crowd – which I love. I won’t have the thrill of competing against others. It’ll be a different vibe, things feel heavier down here, and the numbers won’t be official but it is:

What I can
When I can
With what’s available

Hope she makes you smile.

Technology is awesome and I’m fortunate to have a computer, a phone, wifi, and electricity.  I’m connecting with people more often, and in different ways.  I’ve received so much personal support via email, instant messages, texts and posts.  I’m very grateful for my students, clients, friends, family, and people I have only met on social media that encourage me.  Just today I received the following messages.  I absolutely love each one!!!

Dogs just make things better.

I have so much to be thankful for.  A roof over my head.  Coffee.  Baileys 🙂  My family is healthy.  I’m not afraid of trying new things.  The sun is shining.

What is one positive thing that’s happening for you as a result of this pandemic?

Oh my gosh.  Miracles really do happen!  It’s been forever since I’ve posted a blog.  Like (I’m sure) most of you, I’ve been incredibly busy – teaching four to five days every week, including classes over the past two days with 180+ students in each.  Of course, things have just been a little less like

October Newsletter: 2021 Federal Benefits Annual Open Season

Since the calendar now shows 17 October, evidently September is gone.  Happy (belated) New Year to my contracting and finance friends.  I spent last month in Maine with my daughter and three of my grandchildren.  It was great to be around family and also see the foliage I’ve missed for the past 25 years.  Pictures
